Gary was instrumental in managing the FIFA 2010 World Cup sponsorship spend on behalf of First National Bank. This entailed the building of 5 artificial pitches as well as managing R 250 million leverage spend during the marketing campaign. A sustainable soccer programme was developed for the pitches, which is still in existence 5 years later. The programme is supported by 15 coaches. “FNB Football First” was nominated for the Virgin Active Discovery Industry award as a top development programme.
Prior 2010 Gary was responsible for the set up and management of the Spur Masidlale Soccer Programme – this saw 30 000 children participate in a skills development programme over 8 years. Gary was also Chef de Mission of the South African University delegation from 1993 – 2006 to the World Student Games in Japan, America, Sicilia, South Korea and Spain.
He is the founder of Sports4U and is currently a shareholder and CEO of the company, responsible for all projects and the growth strategy of the business.
Gina specialises in event and sports commercialisation. She is experienced in the management of large events and tournaments, logistics and event planning as well as the development of marketing strategies. Gina served as the COO for Group Africa Marketing and prior to that was the Acting CEO of Cape Town Stadium and Commercial Executive of the SAIL Group.
Fransçois Pienaar holds a unique and iconic position in South Africa’s sporting history. As captain of South Africa’s 1995 World Cup winning Springbok rugby team, his role as nation-builder in a time of political transition equals his remarkable sporting achievements and business acumen.
